This week usability expert Jakob Nielsen has a great piece on how even small, informal usability studies can not only improve your site, but can also help circumvent those awful design discussions where one of the principle clients or stakeholders insists upon doing something dreadful because "they happen to like it that way." Usability studies are a great way to keep the design process focussed on the people who matter most: the users.
